For HZPROD, “War Torn” began with a personal connection to the realities of conflict. Born during the Bosnian War and shaped by experiences of displacement and rebuilding, the producer has created a project that channels those memories into a broader conversation about the human cost of violence and the resilience of communities affected by it.
Created as a producer-led initiative, “War Torn” brings together a diverse group of artists under a shared thematic vision. Featuring contributions from ShoeGang, Zombie Juice, The Game, KXNG Crooked, Charles Hamilton, Marco Vernice, Sashaa, and Siggas, the project uses collaboration as a way of exploring different perspectives on struggle, inequality, survival, and hope. Each track contributes to a larger narrative, allowing the album to unfold as a collection of interconnected stories rather than a traditional compilation of songs.
At the centre of the project is HZPROD, the Bosnian-born, New York-raised producer also known as Damir Hadzalic. His production style blends hip-hop foundations with atmospheric textures and alternative influences, creating a cinematic backdrop for the themes explored throughout the record. Hard-hitting drums sit alongside emotional melodies and expansive arrangements, giving each song room to balance reflection with urgency.
The inspiration behind “War Torn” reaches beyond personal experience. The project was developed in response to ongoing humanitarian crises around the world and the growing normalization of violence across societies. Through music, HZPROD aims to encourage empathy and awareness while highlighting the experiences of those living through conflict, particularly children whose lives are shaped by circumstances beyond their control.
That mission extends beyond the music itself. The project was independently funded by HZPROD, which invested significant personal resources into bringing the vision to life. The release also supports efforts to raise awareness for children affected by war, with donations directed toward Save the Children. For HZPROD, the goal is not simply to release music but to create conversations that connect listeners with real-world issues through storytelling and shared human experiences.
Across tracks such as “A.F.R.I.C.A,” “War Within,” “Peace?” and “Dreamer,” “War Torn” examines conflict from multiple angles, moving between personal struggles and global realities. Together, the songs form a body of work that reflects on hardship while refusing to lose sight of resilience, compassion, and the possibility of change.
By combining cinematic hip-hop production with message-driven storytelling, he delivers a release that invites listeners to engage with the world beyond their immediate surroundings and consider the stories that often go unheard.
