C’batch has released “Our Little Pooh Pea (The Last Light) 4 – Cinematic,” an instrumental from his latest EP that began with a guitar solo recorded for an entirely different song. What was originally played over “Round & Round” was later revisited by C’batch, who heard something in the performance that could work on its own. He rebuilt the musical setting around the guitar, turning the original solo into the centre of a new cinematic and atmospheric track.
The result moves between Electronic, Dream Pop, Ambient and Experimental territory, with the guitar carrying much of the emotion. Electronic and atmospheric elements surround the performance without taking away from it, giving the track a spacious and dreamlike quality. Without lyrics directing the listener toward a particular story, “Our Little Pooh Pea (The Last Light) 4 – Cinematic” leaves room for people to decide what the music means to them.
The title’s reference to “The Last Light” adds another layer to that openness. It suggests a moment between darkness and hope, an ending that could also become a beginning. For one listener, the track might feel like the final scene of a film. For another, it could bring to mind a memory, a farewell or a personal journey.
The release is part of Our Little Pooh Pea (The Last Light), an EP that explores different interpretations of C’batch’s music. The project reflects an approach that has also shaped his wider Vault work: returning to compositions, recordings and ideas from his archives and finding new ways for them to exist.
C’batch, born Stephen H. Cumberbatch, is a composer, producer, guitarist and independent recording artist from White Plains, New York. His work spans R&B, soul, dance, funk, reggae, jazz-influenced, and cinematic music. In 1984, he and his wife Yvette founded Stevette Music, Inc., which continues to house his catalogue and creative work.
In 2026, C’batch opened his musical archives through The Vault, a multi-volume series covering decades of compositions, recordings and musical ideas. “Our Little Pooh Pea (The Last Light) 4 – Cinematic” continues that process in a particularly direct way, taking one performance from an older composition and allowing it to become the foundation for something new.
