Nigerian-born Afrofusion artist Smuuv, also known as Harrison Enogieru, introduces a defining chapter in his musical journey with his debut EP, ** SOJO **, accompanied by the official visualizer for lead single “Casper (Friendly Ghost).” Available now on all major streaming platforms, the four-track project documents a personal journey from self-doubt to clarity, transforming moments of frustration into a renewed sense of purpose.
Featuring “Casper (Friendly Ghost),” “No Drama,” “SMV” and “Mama,” the EP brings together songs written across Nigeria and Rome. The project’s title carries a deeply personal meaning. In Nigerian Pidgin, “Sojo” means soldier, a word that connects directly to Smuuv’s own experiences. A former Nigerian Navy recruit and member of MAN O WAR, a military-trained youth organisation, he held the rank of Parade Commander during his second and third levels at FSTCU. For Smuuv, the soldier identity is more than a symbol of resilience; it is part of his personal history.
That meaning became especially important when the artist reached a point where he considered leaving music altogether. Faced with frustration and pressure, he looked at himself and returned to the identity represented by the word Sojo. The realisation helped him reconnect with the discipline and determination that had shaped his earlier experiences, giving him a renewed reason to continue pursuing music.
