ABZUAZUNA, the brainchild of Zimbabwean-born and globally influenced artist Davison Matanga, has released a vibrant new single titled “Zvi-Kwa-Mbo.” Born in Harare, Davison’s musical journey has taken him from London to the United States, where he studied Software Development in Chicago. In 2003, he crossed paths with Prudence, his wife from Venda, South Africa, and together, they returned to Zimbabwe in 2004, eventually settling in Johannesburg in 2008.
While professionally excelling in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working with major institutions such as FNB, ABSA, Standard Bank, Anglo-American, and BMW, and establishing his AI company, Davison’s deep-rooted passion for music has been a constant in his life. He has always dedicated his personal time to composing and playing keyboards. Influenced by iconic Zimbabwean musicians like Oliver Mtukudzi, Tendai Mupfurutsa, Andy Brown, and Thomas Mapfumo, as well as global artists such as Johnny Clegg, Brenda Fassie, Hugh Masekela, and Isitimela, Davison aims to carry the torch forward for African music.
