The streets of Tema are buzzing with anticipation as August Blaq, Ghana’s rising star, drops his electrifying debut EP, His Messengers Messagers, on May 2nd, 2025. This Afrikaans masterpiece is a vibrant tapestry of Afrobeat, highlife, and local Ghanaian rhythms, woven together with a fierce message of justice and resilience.

Hailing from Tema, Accra, August Blaq grew up captivated by the soulful sound of R2bees, Davido, Olamide and Wizkid, Psquare, Shatta Wale, and the late Pop Smoke. As a kid, he was struck by the beauty of music, sparking a lifelong passion to create his own. His musical style—a bold fusion of Afrobeat, highlife, and local languages—sets him apart as a truth-teller who speaks unapologetically from the heart. I’m local with my languages and somehow talk it how it is but only the truth, he says, reflecting his commitment to authenticity.

His Messengers Messagers is a love letter to his roots and his people. Recorded in both professional studios and the intimate setting of his home, the EP pulses with the brassy swagger of trumpets, ban, and bass, channeling the energy of Ghana’s vibrant music scene. The message behind my music is that justice needs to be served and that my enemies will never win, August Blaq declares, infusing each track with a defiant spirit. Collaborating with close friends and talented producers, he’s crafted an EP that’s as personal as it is universal, designed to resonate with listeners who crave music with meaning.

This isn’t just a release, it’s a movement. August Blaq is planning a massive show in Tema Comm1, the neighborhood that raised him, to celebrate the EP’s launch. I hope listeners like the songs and be proud of me and life in general, he shares, his excitement palpable. With a history of stealing the spotlight at events alongside artists like Dr. Cryme and Vimbwoy, August Blaq is no stranger to commanding a crowd. His infectious energy and knack for hosting have made every performance a party, and he’s hungry for more.

From a kid inspired by the rhythms of Ghana to a star on the rise, August Blaq is carving his own path. His journey, fueled by a love for music, money, and the hustle—has already earned him paid gigs and a growing fanbase. What’s next? More music, more albums, and more unforgettable events. I haven’t had my most memorable show yet, but I’m hoping it comes soon, he says, eyeing the future with ambition.
