Ghanaian award-winning Afro-Pop/R&B artist Camidoh joins Nandi Madida via FaceTime on Apple Music 1 to talk about his latest single “Many Many Things”. He also discusses his new EP ‘Trustn God’, why he featured Stonebwoy on the song “Many Many Things”, and why his EP ‘Trustn God’ is so personal.

Camidoh tells Apple Music about the making of his EP ‘Trustn God’
In 2024 after being sick, I was discharged from hospital, I was determined to finish my album. So I organised a camp and called a bunch of creatives and booked a studio on the mountains, and for two weeks, we did crazy work for the very best output. But after it was recorded, we started having disagreements within my teams and then I lost my partner and then I lost my manager. It was a bunch of things that shook me and changed the whole narrative. It took a toll on my life and my career. But then I found light and found inspiration, I was like, “I’m not going to touch any of the songs from the album. If I’m going to drop something, I’m going to drop fresh from all the things that I’ve dealt with. I’m going to make music from that experience.”
Camidoh tells Apple Music why he named the project ‘Trustn God’
When I almost finished making the EP, I met a random woman who was a big fan – and she would always check up on me and send me voice notes. One night I was coming back into my house from the studio at 2am and I played one of the notes. She told me everything that I was dealing with – wanting this so bad, pushing so hard but still feeling stuck. She told me God is with me and that she wanted me to trust God through every moment and everything would make sense. That’s when I really I got the conviction that I was still on the right path. That really inspired the title ‘Trustn God’ because this woman knew nothing about me and for her to send me all these notes, it was crazy.
Camidoh tells Apple Music why he featured Stonebwoy on the song “Many Many Things”
I’m very lucky and blessed that I come from the same [Volta] region as Stonebwoy and he has been one of the artists who openly shows support. He always sees people doing something great and gives them that little push in his own little way. I played him a voice recording of the record on Snapchat, and he was like, “What are you waiting for, pull up to the crib!”. So I was at his crib and it was a beautiful moment because Stonebwoy has also openly dealt with adversities. We shares stories and he just laid the words on there and I was like, “This is exactly what I needed”. I’m really grateful to him. It goes beyond the record – he checks in on me. I respect and I love him,
Camidoh tells Apple Music about the song “Ayeko”
“Ayeko” is about me still being able receive love. “Ayeko” is the universe telling me “Thank you for not giving up”. This song has this groove that makes you want to dance – so sometimes people will be dancing, not knowing what it is communicating. It’s about coming out of pain or coming out of a dark place and still making yourself available for love and still be the man that you are. You will hear the lyric “That sugar cane sweet, but it came with pain” and that’s ok. Ayeko is for all of the people who have been through a dark phase, but did not let themselves stay there.
Camidoh tells Apple Music about the song “Your Ghost”
When I was young, (maybe 10) I lost a close friend to a tragic accident. I was so young, I never really understood everything and never really got the chance to mourn. So while I was in the studio at 1am by myself, looking for inspiration, it dawned on me, like my friend was just talking to me. He was like, “Yeah, I know you miss me, but you haven’t really addressed our situation on the record. What you are blessed to do. You make records from real life situations, so why don’t you just give it a go?” So that’s how I wrote the song. I’m talking to my ghost in the morning, just reaching out to my friend, hoping that my people or all our loved ones who are on the other side, hoping that they’re seeing and everything that we’re going through and guiding us and being there for us. People go to graveyards to just say a thing or two to their loved ones on the other side. So this record is really for people like me in that situation.
Camidoh tells Apple Music why his EP ‘Trustn God’ is so personal
Everything from the title to the artwork, I made sure I was hands on. I created everything by myself – just the way I wanted the artwork to be depicting where I was mentally in a dark place but found that light from God shining on me. This project really is very special to me. I’m trying to be vulnerable as much as I can be. I want to let people know it’s okay to really go through a dark phase. You don’t have to be shy about anything. I pray that people will get the true meaning of this EP and they will be inspired and lead us all to a greater position in life.
