Multi-genre, multi-instrumentalist Chris Ramey shares his latest sonic offering, “Harvest Time Again,” a soulful reggae track drawn from his new album Children’s Songs for Adults Only. Released under Herban Insurgent Publishing, LLC, the track blends mellow grooves, sharp songwriting, and a hypnotic one-drop rhythm into a tune that resonates far beyond the surface.
With a strong reggae bounce and natural warmth, “Harvest Time Again” stands out for its authentic sound and stripped-down confidence. Ramey’s execution is deliberate and soulful, from his vibrant instrumentation and guitar work to his subtle yet confident vocal delivery. His lyrical craft is also a highlight, using the metaphor of harvest and horticulture as a meditative reflection on the passage of time, herbal culture, and personal growth.
The track features Derrick McDonald of West Virginia’s reggae-fusion group Rasta Rafiki on lead vocals, whose voice adds rich texture and soulful depth to the track. Chris Ramey himself performs the electric guitars, bass, and backing vocals, while Oliver Ahern provides synth and organ arrangements through a real Leslie speaker setup, adding a vintage psychedelic flair to the reggae flow.
The percussive groove was carefully constructed by Scott Parker Mast on auxiliary percussion and Ryan Sapp on drums. The track was mixed by Chris Ramey and Bret Batterman at The Pajama Room in Longmont, Colorado, with a mixing style that allows the layered instrumentation to breathe and repeat like waves, enhancing the meditative vibe.
“Harvest Time Again” exemplifies the spirit of Children’s Songs for Adults Only, a project that invites grown-up listeners to revisit play, contemplation, and joy through music that grooves with purpose.
