Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

ChucNova, born Benel Jean on October 21, 1990, is making a significant impact on the music industry with a refreshing and distinctive approach to his art. Raised in the vibrant cultural landscape of Miami, ChucNova brings a unique blend of Caribbean-paradise culture, innovative songwriting, and melodious tunes to the forefront of today’s music scene.

Born to Haitian parents who worked as ordained ministers, ChucNova’s upbringing was marked by regular travels between Haiti and Miami. Amidst the constant movement, he and his four older siblings often resided in both places for extended periods. This lifestyle exposed him to cultural diversity but also subjected him to the challenges of being a black male born in the crime-prone streets of Miami.

Reflecting on his early experiences, ChucNova shares, “I got kicked out of summer school at Morning Side Elementary… mom and dad felt I was being a hoodlum… so I got shipped off to Haiti.” Despite facing adversity, including the caliber of kids at school being “1st class” and the constant allure of the streets, ChucNova found solace and purpose in music.

ChucNova spent his childhood exploring the streets of Haiti with his longtime friend Elvis Milord, known by his stage name Zoey DollaS. Determined to remain productive and optimistic in his challenging reality, ChucNova realized that music was his escape. “I found the only way to escape was to make music.”

Returning to Miami after completing a three-year sentence and a year of probation, ChucNova was ready to put forth 100% effort to become a well-productive member of society. ChucNova emphasizes the therapeutic nature of music and its role in shaping his character during trials and tribulations.
