Daisy Howard is excited to announce the release of her debut EP, In CNX (In Chiang Mai). This four-track project is a heartfelt tribute to Chiang Mai, Thailand, the city that unexpectedly became the heart of her creative journey. Since late 2019, Daisy has embraced a nomadic lifestyle, travelling, teaching, and writing songs inspired by her ever-changing surroundings. Her unique sound blends sun-soaked storytelling with soulful, folk-pop influences, rooted in a rock-and-roll upbringing that began when her father first put a guitar in her hands.
In late 2023, Daisy followed a strong, intuitive pull back to Chiang Mai. There, she discovered a perfect creative partnership with a local producer and finally began recording her long-awaited debut album. This period marked a turning point as she started self-releasing her music, introducing listeners to her artistry with two 2024 singles: First Kiss, a tender and dreamy debut, and Hot Soup!, an electro-pop confessional. Now, with the release of In CNX, Daisy brings together these first two singles, a brand-new song titled I Want You Now, and an unplugged live version of First Kiss.
I Want You Now, one of the standout tracks on the project, stands out for its vintage, cider-soaked charm reminiscent of Stealers Wheel’s Stuck in the Middle with You. The song’s lively beats create an upbeat, infectious energy, while Daisy’s soft vocals flow effortlessly with the rhythm, maintaining a solid pace throughout. Harmonies in the background blend beautifully with the lead vocals, enhancing the listening experience and giving the track a joyful, inviting feel. I Want You Now channels the excitement and warmth of new love, perfectly complementing the other songs on the EP.
The EP as a whole is drenched in the glow of new beginnings, both romantic and creative. Daisy describes In CNX as “a thank you, a homage, a ‘kap kun ka’ to Chiang Mai,” capturing the city’s influence on her music and life. Her songs are filled with rich, conversational lyrics and a nostalgic warmth, offering listeners snapshots of wanderlust, fleeting romance, and soulful longing. The unplugged live version of First Kiss provides a raw, heartfelt glimpse into Daisy’s musical roots, highlighting her ability to create intimate and emotionally resonant moments.
