Ghanaian rap veteran Shortman, also known as Too Short, makes a strong return to the music scene with his new single “Understanding.”

Born Bright Martevi Tetteh in Takoradi, Ghana, Shortman discovered his love for rap early while studying at Chapel Hill School and later St. John’s School in Sekondi. His passion for lyricism and storytelling quickly evolved into a lifelong pursuit, shaping him into one of the respected voices from Ghana’s rap movement in the late 90s.

Shortman first rose to prominence with his debut album Slavery (1998), a project that reflected his lyrical depth and creative authenticity. He followed with Awendzepa Kasa (2000), solidifying his place as one of Ghana’s pioneering rap artists. As a founding member of the group Sasssquad, alongside Scooby, Atsu Koliko, and Sane Dog, Shortman helped define an era of Ghanaian hip-hop with their originality and cultural impact.

With “Understanding,” Shortman blends his signature old-school flow with mature reflections on life and growth, bridging the gap between classic rap and contemporary sound. The track reaffirms his timeless artistry and reintroduces a voice that helped shape the foundations of Ghana’s music scene.
