Nigerian-American artist Echezona has released his long anticipated debut album, Ényì, a soul stirring body of work that reflects years of collaboration, growth, and storytelling. Crafted alongside producer and creative partner JPRiZM, the album dropped on April 22, 2025, delivering a compelling blend of afrofusion, R&B, soul, hip hop, and afrobeat.
Recorded in Boston at JPRiZM’s studio, Ényì (which means “friend” in Igbo) explores themes of love, community, identity, and emotional honesty. It’s a multi-layered project that embraces both the artist’s Nigerian roots and his American upbringing in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood. The result is a rich, multicultural sound that bridges continents and genres while remaining deeply personal.
Highlighting the project is the current focus single, “Rare,” accompanied by a stripped-back, emotionally raw music video. Speaking about the song, Echezona shares.
Throughout Ényì, Echezona’s multilingual lyricism and genre-blending artistry are at the forefront. With Igbo woven into the lyrics and African rhythm meeting contemporary American influence, the album stands as a celebration of cultural duality and a tribute to the power of friendship and human connection.
