Seattle-based artist Otys is excited to announce the release of his original single “Fan the Flames”, the lead track from his new EP titled “Campers Hideaway.” This vibrant and moving single is a unique blend of R&B, Pop, Folk, and EDM, produced in collaboration with the talented duo DJ Schwenk and Brian Kamp. Released as part of a larger creative project, “Fan the Flames” represents an important step in Otys’ artistic journey and sets the tone for the fresh sounds found in his upcoming work.
Otys draws inspiration from a range of artists such as Justin Timberlake, Bazzi, Lauv, and, more recently, Benson Boone, allowing him to craft music that reaches deep emotionally while pushing boundaries across genres. “Fan the Flames” stands out as the most R&B-heavy track on the EP, symbolising a powerful rebirth and the beginning of a new era in Otys’ musical career.
The EP “Campers Hideaway” was recorded live on Lummi Island, a beautiful and peaceful place that served as a perfect setting for creative flow and reflection away from the city’s hustle. One of the songs even carries the island’s name, showing the deep connection Otys has with this inspiring location. The name of the EP comes from the “Campers Hideaway,” the campsite where mixing and production took place during the summer, allowing Otys to find creative inspiration surrounded by nature.
“My hope in any of my music is to elicit some type of emotion,” Otys shares. This focus on emotional connection drives every aspect of Otys’ creative process. Rather than simply creating catchy melodies, he aims to craft music that touches listeners on a deeper level, creating moments of genuine connection between artist and audience. “Fan the Flames” exemplifies this approach, with its R&B-heavy sound serving as the perfect vehicle for conveying powerful emotions and personal experiences.
“This release, as with many of my releases, focuses on finding the right balance with life and savouring community and the present,” explains Otys. These themes are particularly relevant in today’s fast-paced world, where many people struggle to maintain meaningful connections and find moments of genuine peace and reflection. Through his music, Otys encourages listeners to slow down, appreciate the people around them, and find ways to stay grounded despite life’s constant demands.
This release is just the beginning of a larger musical journey, with plans to release two additional EPs later this year. Each project promises to explore new sounds and emotions, continuing to showcase Otys’ evolution as an artist.
