Tomás Jensen is set to release his latest single, “Boum Boum Boum” as the first preview from his upcoming album, ‘À l’humain! À la vertu.’ Tomás Jensen’s unique artistic perspective comes from his remarkable multicultural background. He was born in Argentina, grew up in Brazil and France, and now calls Quebec his home. His music blends influences from all these places, creating a unique sound that is both worldly and personal. Over a 25-year career, Tomás has released 12 albums and worked with many talented collaborators. For his new album, he has gathered the best partners to help him launch his first project on his label.
In the early 2000s, Tomás made his mark with the band Les Faux-Monnayeurs. Together, they recorded four albums and toured widely across Canada and Europe. His first solo album, “Quelqu’un d’autre,” won him the Songwriter of the Year award at the Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2008. He continued to explore new sounds and projects, including the group “Hombre” in 2010, which was nominated for an ADISQ award and won Best Album in the World Music category at GAMIQ.
In 2015, Tomás returned to Argentina after 20 years away. He recorded the album “Retour” (released in 2016), which was also nominated for an ADISQ award. His journey was captured by filmmaker Martin Bourgault, whose documentary was shown at FIFA and other festivals around the world.
In 2020, Tomás released “Les rêves sont faits,” an album nominated for Folk Album of the Year at GAMIQ. This was the first album he arranged and produced entirely by himself, showing his artistic freedom and the influence of his diverse background. Since then, he has founded Studio La Maison Ronde, where he records, mixes, and produces music for other artists as well.
At the end of 2024, Tomás celebrated the 20th anniversary of his album “Tomas Jensen & Les Faux-Monnayeurs” with a special tour and a live album recorded at the Lion d’Or in Montreal, joined by his longtime musical friends.
“Boum Boum Boum” is a gentle bossa nova duet with Brazilian artist Bïa. The song is playful and romantic, telling the story of a couple who believe that samba is more important than anything else, even more important than their relationship. The inspiration behind the song comes from Jensen’s belief that “the rhythm of samba is natural like the water we drink, it comes from the earth and the sky at the same time.” This catchy and light-hearted song is just a taste of what’s to come on the new album.
The upcoming album, ‘À l’humain! À la vertu!’ (which means “To humanity! To virtue!”), will be released in fall 2025. The album’s title comes from the lyrics of the second single, “Big Bro,” which Tomás says brings a sense of optimism, something he believes everyone needs right now.
Tomás Jensen’s return with ‘À l’humain ! À la vertu!’ marks an exciting new chapter in his career, highlighting his passion for music, his connection to his roots, and his ongoing commitment to sharing hope and joy through his art.
