Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

West Coast vibes meet UK flavour on “Dichotomy,” the third collaborative album from San Diego’s Tranzformer and London-based American producer Big O. This project is a vibrant sonic exchange rooted in the duo’s deep appreciation for soul samples and underground hip-hop aesthetics. “Dichotomy” explores the dynamic push and pull between two distinct production voices, each representing their style while blending into an emotionally rich sound.

The album’s structure reflects the partnership: Tranzformer and Big O alternate tracks, each building soulful, sample-rich beats that highlight their musical identities. Tracks 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 are produced and arranged by Big O, born in America but based in London, while tracks 2, 4, 6, and 8 are crafted by Tranzformer in San Diego. Through this interplay, listeners experience a “sonic conversation”, each producer speaks in their own musical dialect, conversing through beats, textures, and arrangement.

“Dichotomy” stands as a musical meditation on the spectrum of human experiences and moral contrasts, illustrating the push and pull between good, bad, and ugly characteristics in life. The album thematically presents a variety of personalities, actions, and moods, all connected through a love of soulful hip-hop.

Some standout moments on the album include: “Fed Up (Remix)” featuring hard-hitting guest verses from Fashawn and G-Rocka, with Tranzformer handling the hook. This track is fully produced by Big O and shines with additional mixing and mastering by G-Rocka. “Culmination” Showcases lyrical performances by L.O.U. and P-Rawb, complemented by DJ cuts from Decksterror. The mix and master were handled by Argy W.

“Run it Up” Features a solo verse from Benny Canales (formerly 3D) and is mixed and mastered by Tranzformer. While many tracks highlight the duo’s individual strengths, “Culmination” and “Run it Up” are especially notable for being the only two album cuts both producers co-created and produced together, representing the height of their musical dialogue.

Another unique aspect of “Dichotomy” is how it was made; Big O’s tracks were created in London, while Tranzformer’s were made in San Diego. Despite the distance, the entire collaboration and recording process was conducted online, showcasing global creativity and the spirit of modern hip-hop connection.

With “Dichotomy,” Tranzformer and Big O deliver a project brimming with soul, depth, and the creative synergy of two producers blending distinct backgrounds into a unified, standout statement in underground hip-hop.

“Dichotomy” is now available on all major streaming platforms and digital music stores. The album represents the latest chapter in the ongoing creative partnership between these two innovative producers, and fans can expect this collaboration to continue evolving in future projects.
