“Trashman Plays Piano,” a ragtime composition by Justin Ryan, is more than just music but a reflection of an extraordinary artistic journey by Justin, a trashman by profession, who composed this intricate piece during his time at Rumpke, where he worked alongside his fellow workers. Despite the physical challenges of his collection job, Justin persevered. He hoped to stumble upon a discarded piano during his trash collection route. Although he never found a playable piano, his encounters during the job inspired him to embark on a musical adventure to share his talent with the world.
Justin’s musical journey began at the age of 15 when he taught himself to play the piano. He started composing music almost immediately. In his pursuit of sharing his compositions with the world, Justin encountered numerous rejections. However, these setbacks did not deter his passion for music. He continued to perform live shows, practice the piano, and compose new pieces.
“Trashman Plays Piano” is a testament to Justin Ryan’s unwavering determination and artistic spirit. Justin’s unique blend of profession and passion has resulted in a beautiful ragtime composition that reflects his resilience and love for music.
