Larry Karpenko is proud to announce his deeply moving new single, “God Help Us,” a track born from inspiration and connection at a live event hosted by the Los Angeles College of Music (LACM). This song blends heartfelt spirituality, resilience, and hope into a memorable anthem that invites listeners to unite through music and prayer.

The spark for “God Help Us” came when Larry had the incredible opportunity to meet Marlanna Evans, better known by her stage name, Rapsody, at a vibrant music summit at LACM. Rapsody, a Grammy-winning artist, shared her powerful personal journey with raw honesty and soulful passion. Through her hard-hitting lyrics and soulful melodies, Rapsody spoke about themes of self-expression, resilience, isolation, and the healing power of human connection.

Her performance included the song “Back In My Bag,” featuring the poignant line, “with blessings on blessings, I came through the struggle,” which highlighted her positive outlook as she overcame life’s many challenges. Rapsody also opened up about moments of feeling creatively stuck and isolated, sitting alone, disconnected from the music scene. But in time, she found her way back, reconnecting with other artists and reigniting her creative flame. Larry saw himself in her story of struggle and eventual inspiration.

When Larry returned home after the event, this shared experience sparked a creative breakthrough. He revisited a four-bar beat he had previously set aside. Suddenly, the chorus came to him quickly with the heartfelt line: “Rain may come, rain may fall,” which serves as a plea for God’s guidance and strength during difficult times. Larry wanted the song to carry Rapsody’s message of gratitude and perseverance, mixing it into a spiritual and emotional anthem.

Larry’s creative vision for “God Help Us” painted a vivid scene: himself, Rapsody, and the legendary Michael Jackson standing in the Hollywood Hills, praying over the city of Los Angeles. This image reflects the song’s core message of love, unity, and finding divine strength through faith.

Adding to the song’s rich soundscape, Larry layered gospel choir hums in the bridge to reflect the feeling of a church congregation, a spiritual gathering united in hope. The track closes with Bible verses that reinforce God’s voice, His intervention, and the promise of His return, emphasising the spiritual depth of the song.

Musically, “God Help Us” features a steady, memorable melody that matches the powerful beat of a human fist pounding, strong, raw, and heartfelt. The rhythm carries a sense of urgency and solidarity, inviting everyone to sing along, whether quietly in personal reflection or loudly in shared celebration. Its accessible and timeless melody makes the song a communal anthem, carrying a message far beyond one individual’s story.

The creation of this powerful anthem took place at Kreation Records Studio, an independent studio in Loma Linda, California, near Los Angeles. This creative space allowed Larry to fully develop the track’s emotional and spiritual elements, blending gospel choir hums, natural rain sounds, and Bible verses into a moving, hopeful hymn about faith and community.

“God Help Us” is more than just a song. It is a call to come together, to rise, endure, and seek strength through love and faith. Inspired by Rapsody’s heartfelt story and the shared energy of the LACM music summit, Larry Karpenko invites listeners everywhere to join in this anthem of unity and hope.
