Winnie Ama proudly announces the release of her debut album DEKA, a vibrant, genre-blending mixtape that fuses pop, disco, soul, and folk into a radiant expression of unity and self-discovery.
The title DEKA, meaning “one” in Ewe, her mother’s native Ghanaian language, symbolizes both oneness in diversity and the milestone of her first complete body of work. Written in collaboration with an international lineup of producers, Simon Le Saint (Belgium), Yacine Alaoui (France/Morocco), Jonny Parry (Liverpool), Greg Hummell (London), and David Goode (London), the album embodies a global sound that bridges cultures and emotions.
Lyrically, DEKA explores the full spectrum of human experience, from the highs and lows of love to themes of identity, belonging, betrayal, acceptance, and forgiveness. It captures the heart of Winnie Ama’s journey toward embracing both her Northern Irish roots and Ghanaian heritage.
“DEKA is me choosing light without pretending the rain didn’t happen,” Winnie Ama shares. “It’s about celebrating community and my Northern-Irish–Ghanaian identity, embracing love, friendships, and the emotions that make life vibrant and ever-changing.”
One of the standout tracks, “Everywhere,” dives deep into self-acceptance and inner peace, reminding listeners that home is found within and that self-definition comes from within.
With DEKA, Winnie Ama cements her place as one of the most promising new voices in global pop, fearless in her creativity and grounded in authenticity.
