Multidisciplinary artist and musician ZOOLOOK is proud to announce the official release of his latest single, “Power of the People.” This powerful new track is a unique blend of soul, funk, and electronic music, creating a genre-defying anthem that calls for unity and empowerment in today’s world.
ZOOLOOK’s style is deeply influenced by the classic sounds of the 1960s through the 1980s. Growing up, he was surrounded by his father’s diverse collection of vinyl records, which played a huge role in shaping his musical identity. The grooves of Motown, the deep and infectious basslines of Bernard Edwards, Maurice Gibb, and Mario Mantese, and the atmospheric synthesizers of Jean-Michel Jarre, Herbie Hancock, Kraftwerk, and Kitaro all come together in this new single. The result is a song that feels timeless, speaking directly to the issues and spirit of today.
“My sound is rooted in the message and melody of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s, where bass grooves met rich synths, and every song had something to say,” says ZOOLOOK. “With Power of the People, I wanted to capture that same spirit-music that moves you physically and emotionally.”
For ZOOLOOK, the music of the past was a wake-up call. “That music was a wake-up call,” he explains. “It opened my eyes to what was happening in America-from civil rights to economic injustice. Those songs weren’t just hits but messages, warnings, and calls to action. And they still ring true today.”
The song was originally titled “Power to the People”, but a historic moment in American politics inspired a change. After watching Senator Cory Booker’s remarkable 25-hour and 5-minute speech on the Senate floor, ZOOLOOK was moved to retitle the track “Power of the People”. This shift in focus-from a demand to a declaration, was important to ZOOLOOK. “Senator Booker’s words reminded me that the power of the people is greater than the people in power. That’s the energy I wanted to honour.”
“Power of the People” marks ZOOLOOK’s first Direct-to-Fans release. There are two versions available: The Radio Edit, which is a streaming-friendly version available on Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, and other major platforms. And, also the Full-Length Version: An exclusive 6-7 minute extended version available only on Bandcamp and ZOOLOOK’s official website.
ZOOLOOK’s music reflects his lifelong appreciation for songs with substance-music that grooves and speaks the truth. His unique style combines the deep rhythm of the bass guitar, soulful storytelling, and cinematic sound design, all driven by a desire to create music that matters.
“Power of the People (Radio Edit)” is my first single of 2025. I went back to the ’70s, pulled the funk from the fire, and brought this modern rebel rhythm to the frontlines of today’s fight with Power of the People,” says ZOOLOOK. “Originally titled Power to the People, I changed the title to Power of the People after watching Senator Cory Booker’s historic speech. Senator Booker’s words reminded me that the Power of the people is greater than the people in Power. That’s the energy I’m bringing with this new track.”
ZOOLOOK is a multidisciplinary artist and musician known for blending genres and delivering music with a message. His work is inspired by the classics but always looks forward, aiming to create songs that move people both physically and emotionally.
