African musicians bag nominations for Caribbean Afro Music Awards

Several African artists have been nominated for the Caribbean Afro Music Awards, which are set to take place in London, UK, in September 2021.The annual awards acknowledge and reward British and international talent from genres like Afrobeats, reggae, reggaeton, dancehall, soca and gospel.

British-Ghanaian DJ and producer Juls, who recently became a member of Grammy oversight body the Recording Academy, received two nominations in the Best DJ, Best UK Act and Best Afrobeats Act categories. The latter category features Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene who also got a nod in the Best International Act category.

Other nominees from Africa include BM (DRC), Andrew Ripper (DRC/Zambia), Eddy Kenzo (Uganda), Jidenna (Nigerian/US) as well as Kenyans Cathy Matete, Becky Muthoni, Shamir, Wyre and Lavosti, among others.
