Apple Music’s Rap Life Radio, presented by Global Editorial Head of Hip-Hop and R&B, Ebro Darden will feature prolific South African hip-hop producer, MashBeatz (real name Nhlawulo Shipambuli Mashimbyi) on this week’s episode. Ebro and Africa Now host Dadaboy Ehiz chat about MashBeatz’s latest single “AFTER THE WAR feat. Tyson Sybateli, Thato Saul, Halo Yagami, Teerage & Black Myth”, from his latest album drop THIS IS RELIGION, available to stream on Apple Music.

Alongside MashBeatz, Rap Life Radio also features a new track from Ghanaian rapper M.anifest called “Too Bad feat. M.I Abaga“, as well as a brand new collaboration from Zoro & Falz called “Naira to Pounds” released through emPawa Africa Limited.

Spotlight On

MashBeatz lastest compilation album, THIS IS RELIGION, sees the producer on a journey of self-discovery weaving together multiple genres and featured SA artists–from Muzi and Raspy to Thato Saul and Maglera Doe Boy–flexing his versatility over 15 tracks.

First To Know

“The song is about the after-effects of war, that is peace. The song-making process started off with Thato Saul lacing his verse, followed by Tyson Sybateli later on. I asked Halo Yagami to send me a hook based on the concept. I also wanted some reggae type of feeling so I asked Teerage to send me an intro with that reference. The switch up at the end came from the session I had with Black Myth and I felt it would be dope on the same track,” MashBeatz tells Apple Music about his new single “AFTER THE WAR”.

Rap Life Africa serves as a companion to Apple Music’s flagship hip-hop playlist, Rap Life.
