Growing up listening to Zimbabwean gospel music, afro jazz, and sungura, Bankx’s musical journey took a new direction when she arrived in the UK and fell in love with the passion and emotion of R&B, soul, and pop artists. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill, and contemporary artists like Rihanna, Bankx infuses her music with a fusion of genres and her own unique spin.
Her musical talent was first recognized by her grandmother, who encouraged her to sing in the family church choir, where Bankx often took the lead during church gatherings and ceremonies. She wrote her first song at the age of 14 and honed her skills by participating in school and national talent shows.
