Nigerian-born independent artist Brodrick presents “Chat,” a deeply personal Afro Drill record exploring love, betrayal, conflict and reconciliation. Taken from his debut album Tales Untold, the track holds particular significance for Brodrick as his favourite song on the project, with its story drawn directly from his own life.

“Chat” combines Afro-inspired songwriting and language with the darker rhythmic energy of UK Drill. The result reflects Brodrick’s Nigerian roots alongside the musical influences he encountered after relocating abroad at an early age, creating a sound that balances melodic Afro sensibilities with contemporary drill production.

At the centre of “Chat” is a relationship tested by cheating and the difficult process of trying to rebuild trust. Instead of presenting an idealised version of love, Brodrick draws from a real-life experience to capture the arguments, vulnerability, tension and emotional uncertainty that can emerge when two people attempt to repair a damaged relationship.

Produced by Prodbyzawn and Prodbygravey, the track is written by Brodrick himself, keeping the storytelling closely connected to his personal experiences. His involvement in the songwriting reflects the independent approach behind Tales Untold, a project built around stories and perspectives drawn from his own world.

Brodrick’s path into music developed through his experiences and friendships within the industry. After working as a road manager for Nigerian artist 1da Banton, he became increasingly interested in creating music himself before making his debut with “Jump On Dem.” That transition from working behind the scenes to becoming an artist and songwriter eventually led to Tales Untold.

Among the album’s collection of personal stories, “Chat” stands out as one of its most intimate moments. By combining Nigerian influence, Afro-inspired expression and UK Drill energy, Brodrick continues to establish an identity built around honest storytelling and contemporary sounds.
