Afro R&B artist Tobiah Frei has released his debut single, “Slide,” a slow-burning and intimate track that introduces his self-defined “Afro Chill” sound to the global stage. The song, featuring London-based vocalist Neya and producer Tami, weaves together silky vocals, mesmerizing guitar melodies, and a deep bassline to create a sensual and immersive listening experience.

Born from a conversation about the exhilarating beginnings of a new relationship, “Slide” captures the yearning and optimism of starting fresh with someone. The track’s smooth, sensual vibes are a deliberate focus on the “positive” and beautiful early stages of love, setting the tone for Frei’s upcoming debut EP, which will explore themes of romance, commitment, and obsessive love.

The collaboration was born from a London songwriting camp in 2024, where Frei connected with the “super talented” Neya and producer Tami. Their combined talents were instrumental in shaping the song’s intimate atmosphere, with Neya’s “silky smooth vocals” and Tami’s “amazing guitar and bass playing skills” bringing Frei’s initial vision to life.

Drawing inspiration from UK Afro R&B and dancehall R&B artists like Amaria bb, Skeete, and JayO, Tobiah Frei,  a London-based artist of Nigerian heritage, carves out a unique niche with his “Afro Chill” sound, characterized by its slow tempo, chill instrumentation, and sensual vibe.

As the gateway to his first-ever project, “Slide” is a promise of the compelling musical journey to come. The track invites listeners into a world of modern R&B that is both personally resonant and universally appealing.

“Slide” is available now on all major streaming platforms: open.spotify.com/track/1IamM Kl0
