Mzansi’s Anatii gets the nod for Soul Train Award alongside Beyoncé

Local muso, Anatii has been nominated for a Soul Train Award alongside Beyoncé for his contribution to the hit song, Brown Skin Girl, which was featured in Beyoncé’s latest album, Lion King: The Gift.

Billboard reported that the Mzansi star was nominated for the Ashford and Simpson’s songwriter’s award for the song which featured Wizkid, Blue Ivy Carter and Saint Jhn. The muso also composed the track, Mood Forever, which featured Jay-Z and Childish Gambino.

According to Channel 24, local artists, Anatii, DJ Lag, Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly made Mzansi proud when they were featured on Beyoncé’s highly anticipated album in July.


The Thixo Onefefe rapper, whose real name is Anathi Mnyango, is being recognised as one of the composers of Brown Skin Girl which gave rise to the #BrownSkinGirlChallenge which went viral on social media.

When the album released, Anatii took to Instagram to show his gratitude with the caption:“Blessings come down! Enkosi Beyoncé. Big up to the incredible team behind The Gift. The energy was pure, the cultural shift has begun. Umthandazo uyasebenza.”

The Soul Train Awards ceremony is set to take place in Las Vegas on 17 November.
