Nqobile Khumalo, Scandal actress, was honoured for her role in the soap when she was given the award for Best African Actress at the New Vision International Film Festival (NVIFF) in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Her role showed the world what black tax is and how it can affect a person’s life, and the way Nqobile nailed her role is awesome. She plays the role of Hlengiwe Twala, a reporter with a fierce heart, and she was put under lots of stress to take care of her mother, sister and the sister’s two kids. She took a huge loan that had so many repercussions.
The storyline highlighted something that is real for many South Africans – the burden of black tax. A few days ago, groove-africa.com.za reported that actress Linda Mtoba addressed the matter, saying that she feels that it’s not fair.
