Composer, guitarist and producer Peter Xifaras revisits one of the most enduring melodies in English musical history with “Suite Lady Greensleeves,” a new orchestral work inspired by the legendary tale of unrequited love surrounding “Greensleeves.” While popular tradition has long connected the melody to King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, Xifaras approaches the story through a contemporary classical lens, transforming its romantic associations into an expansive musical interpretation.
Performed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra under conductor Vladimir Martinka, “Suite Lady Greensleeves” features violinist Xander Nichting alongside Xifaras’ orchestral writing and production. The release continues his work at the intersection of classical composition, cinematic music and contemporary musical expression.
Xifaras has built an award-winning career as a composer, guitarist and producer. His accolades include recognition from the AMERICAN Prize, TELLY and the Accolade Film Humanitarian Award for compositions championing social change. His orchestral projects “Children of Conflict” and “Dystopian World” were recorded with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and received Gold and First Prize honours across multiple international music competitions.
His work also extends into jazz. Xifaras’ Third Stream jazz recording “Adagio Grooves” received First Prize in the Mozart International Music Competition and was performed with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra.
A GRAMMY® voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Xifaras has also received nominations from the Hollywood Music in Media Awards and Hollywood Independent Music Awards. His music has been programmed by hundreds of radio stations, including SiriusXM, and has reached the Billboard Classical and Crossover charts.
The release offers a new perspective on a familiar musical story, bringing together historical inspiration, orchestral musicianship and Xifaras’ distinctive contemporary classical approach.
