Fast-rising Ghanaian rapper Yaw Tog has just set a big record when it comes to streams of a song by any Ghanaian top musician on Youtube.
Yaw Tog, is a fast rising ‘Kumerican’ rapper who took Ghanaian drill music to the next level after releasing his hit single, ‘SORE.’
In September 2020, Yaw Tog broke the internet when ‘SORE’, featuring O`kenneth,City Boy, Reggie and Jay bahd was premiered, making instant waves. This attracted attention to Ghana’s drill scene from international acts including British-Ghanaian grime rapper, Stormzy.
I’m December 2020, Stormzy was present in Ghana to meet with the fast rising sensation and perform with him as well. They also worked on a remix of the song along with Kwesi Arthur, and the trio did not fail to deliver.
On March 4, 2021, the remix was released, and exploded instantly, hitting 1 million views on Youtube over a time span of just 3 days.
Well, this is big because none of the top stars have been able to do this yet. The closet on record is Stonebwoy’s ‘Putuu‘ which got a million views after 5 days and Shatta Wale’s ‘Hajia Bintu’ which also did one million after six days.
