Actress, singer and DJ Lauren Akosia has earned nominations at both the Ghana Music Awards UK and the Ghana Music Awards USA, marking another milestone in her growing international music career.
Akosia, known for her appearance in BBC One’s Mr Loverman, has been nominated for UK-Based New Artiste of the Year at the 2026 Ghana Music Awards UK (GMAUK). The recognition follows her nomination for Best International Act at the Ghana Music Awards USA.
The dual nominations come as Akosia continues to expand her presence in electronic music and Afro-house. Her growing momentum follows the release of “Let It Go,” a collaborative single that has helped bring greater attention to her work as a recording artist.
Born in London and trained at Mountview, Akosia has built a career across acting, music and DJing. Her experience on screen informs her approach to music, where she combines layered vocals, electronic production and rhythmic influences associated with South African Afro-house.
Alongside her collaborative work, Akosia recently released “It’s Time,” a standalone electronic track centred on motivation and personal empowerment. The song features rich vocal layers and dynamic production, reflecting her continued development as an artist who takes an active role in shaping her own sound.
Her movement between acting and music also sets her apart as a multi-disciplinary performer, bringing together the storytelling instincts of an actress with the musical sensibilities of a producer and DJ.
With recognition from both the UK and US Ghanaian music award platforms, Akosia is gaining visibility across international audiences while continuing to establish her identity within the electronic and Afro-house scenes.
