MIRO Unites African Sounds and Languages on Waza

Belgian DJ and producer MIRO brings together South African and Ghanaian influences on “Waza,” an amapiano single featuring Durban rapper Drama Drizzy and Ghanaian-born, Belgium-based artist Damn Isall. Built around a 120 BPM log drum groove, the track blends multilingual verses, infectious rhythms, and a chant designed to bring people together on the dancefloor.

The song opens with Drama Drizzy rapping in isiZulu before Damn Isall responds in Twi and pidgin, creating a lively exchange that reflects the artists’ different backgrounds. The title comes from Drizzy’s opening line, “Waz’ wamnandi umcimbi wethu,” meaning “you know our party was good.” Between the verses, the production drops into the chant “hhay hhay hhay,” giving listeners a memorable hook made for crowd participation.

Created remotely between Belgium, South Africa, and Ghana, “Waza” grew from the collaboration of three artists who had previously worked together in the studio. Despite the geographical distance, the track captures a shared musical connection, bringing different cultural perspectives into one cohesive amapiano sound.

Born in Bruges, MIRO spent more than a decade behind the decks before making his breakthrough in 2026. His sound draws from South African club music, particularly gqom, amapiano, and Afro-tech. His growing connection with South African audiences is reflected in his TikTok following of 437,000, around two-thirds of whom are based in South Africa.

MIRO’s previous releases and performances have further strengthened his international profile. He released “Vuli Ndlela” with the late Brenda Fassie through Universal South Africa, toured South Africa in 2025 with a performance at Gasmotor in Durban, and has also played in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His previous single, “Two Gyalies From London,” featured Cristian D.

With “Waza,” MIRO continues to build on his connection to African club sounds while bringing artists and audiences across borders together. Driven by its rolling log drums, multilingual delivery, and infectious group chant, the single celebrates collaboration and the shared energy of a great party.
