While Mzansi is debating the alleged mistreatment of actors in the entertainment industry which was highlighted by actress’ Vatiswa Nadara’s open letter to Minister Nathi Mthethwa, earlier this week, actress and film producer, Connie Ferguson, has taken to social media to share a message about being content with herself and not pleasing everyone.

groove-africa.com.za reported earlier this week that Vatiswa penned an open letter to arts and culture minister, Nathi Mthethwa about the alleged exploitation of actors as well as recounted her experience with Connie and Shona Ferguson’s production company, Ferguson Films. In the open letter, Vatiswa made reference to an offer that was made to her by Ferguson Films and then explained why the terms and conditions were problematic for her.

groove-africa.com.za also learnt that the Fergusons released a statement via their lawyers, in which they denied the allegations and labelled Vatiswa’s open letter as “misguided, misdirected and misleading”. They also called it a “ploy to defame and tarnish” their reputation.

According to TshisaLIVE, the former Generations actress then took to Instagram stories on Wednesday to share an insightful message, in which she stated that liking yourself was more important than wanting to be liked by everyone.

“Not everyone will like you, that’s okay. Juts remember to like yourself enough for everyone,” wrote Connie.
The producer also shared a video of Oprah Winfrey giving a speech at a graduation ceremony last year.

In the video clip, Oprah said: “People don’t always like you and they are not always happy for you. If you surround yourself with people who are not accustomed to your success, they become fearful. They become scared because you are reflecting back something to them that they don’t recognise. People who want the best for you, want you to be your best”.

Oprah also advised to surround yourself with people who were going to fill your cup until it runneth over.
