DJ SAvvy, a Canadian UrbanKiz artist, releases “Esperança,” a ghetto zouk and soft urban track featuring Mozambican singer Tamyris Moiane. The song serves as the centerpiece of her Women’s Day album of the same name, a project created with a clear focus on uplifting women within the kizomba scene.
The Esperança album was built around a specific purpose: to highlight the contributions of women in kizomba who are often underrepresented, underpaid, and undervalued. As DJs, artists, and creatives, their work is frequently overlooked. This project responds directly to that reality by placing female voices at the center of the music.
Through Esperança, DJ SAvvy created a body of work entirely dedicated to female artists, aiming to celebrate their strength while advocating for equal recognition, equal pay, and equal respect within the industry.
The single itself was written from a personal and emotional place. “Esperança” explores the feeling of recognizing someone’s energy before ever meeting them, trusting that a destined connection will eventually arrive. It reflects quiet hope for love that has not yet appeared, but feels certain to come.
Beyond the music, DJ SAvvy’s mission extends into her work as a performer and DJ. Having played across 10 countries, she continues to position herself as a positive force within the UrbanKiz and kizomba community, using her platform to inspire, support, and open space for more women in the scene.
With “Esperança,” she reinforces that vision, combining emotion, advocacy, and artistry into a single release centered on hope and empowerment.
