Uk-based Ghanaian musician Fuse ODJ has just hit another milestone on his collab with Jamaican-American electronic dance music DJ trio Major Lazer.
Featured on the remix of Major Lazer’s “Light It Up” in 2015. The song attained international success in Europe and Oceania. It also marks Fuse ODG’s highest-charting single to date. On the Billboard Hot 100 the song debuted at 98 and has peaked at number 73, marking the Antenna hitmaker’s first entry on the chart.
Released in 2015, more than 2,000,000(2million) units have been sold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA. The song which has amassed over 1 billion streams on Spotify also has over 500 million streams on YouTube.
Announcing the millstone, Nayla who was also featured on the remix shared a post on Instagram, and captioned
“Woop Woop …… Light it up is now 2x Platinum in the United States. Thank you @jamaicaobserver and @kevinjournalist for the Feature. Sometimes you forget the contributions you have made and I have always been one to look to the next thing . Kevin thanks for reminding me to take stock of what I actually have done and accomplished thus far.”
The platinum certification was introduced in 1976 for the sale of one million units for albums and two million for singles, with the gold certification redefined to mean sales of 500,000 units for albums and one million for singles.
