Remna Schwarz is a musical nomad based in Portugal and hailed as an African treasure by his peers. Born in Senegal and with a life story that spans the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde, France, Cuba, and the United States, Remna Schwarz’s diverse experiences have shaped his unique soundscapes.
Promoted by DEEDO, Remna made waves on the international music scene with a standout performance at the “South By Southwest Festival” in Texas in 2018. This prestigious festival, one of the largest in the Americas, introduced Remna’s music to a global audience, earning him accolades such as “Great Pan-African Music” from Wobean Music.
Remna Schwarz has collaborated with renowned artists like Karyna Gomes, Eneida Marta, and Nancy Vieira. He co-produced the soundtrack for the MANJAK series on Canal+ Afrique, which received the prestigious UBUNTU D’OR for Best African Series in 2021. Additionally, Remna composed the soundtrack for the film “NOME,” an official selection at the Cannes Festival 2023.
