Music streaming service Deezer on 29 October released three exclusive songs by Tshego, taken off the South African R&B artist’s debut album Pink Panther. The tracks, which were all reworked, include Tshego’s most popular singles ‘No Ties’, ‘Ubumnandi’ and ‘Together’. They were recorded under the Deezer Sessions series, a platform that gives artists creative freedom to perform and connect with fans through live performances.
“Deezer has given me an opportunity to perform for the world during lockdown,” Tshego said. “It’s been an incredible experience and my Deezer sessions is something I’ve wanted to share especially with my fans.”
Deezer music editor for Africa Sotiris Moldovanos said: “Tshego is one of South Africa’s most promising young talent, and we’re proud to have him as our Deezer NEXT artist. His new Deezer Sessions exemplifies his versatility and musicianship, and we can’t wait to explore more opportunities with Tshego.”
The self-produced emerging artist has gained some traction on the music scene with his breakout EP Since 1990, released in 2014. Tshego has also collaborated with some of SA’s biggest names in hip hop and R&B, including Cassper Nyovest and Nadia Nakai.
Tshego officially signed to the recently launched Def Jam Africa stable in May. In September last year he was also featured as a local Deezer NEXT act. The global programme supports emerging artists with 12 months of dedicated support from Deezer’s editorial and artist marketing teams including playlisting, creative marketing campaigns, special content, fan events and social media.
Other local artists that have been featured in the programme include Langa Mavuso and Easy Freak.
