Music sharing platform SoundCloud this week launched a new plan called SoundCloud DJ, which enables users unlimited offline access to the platform’s catalogue.Tracks, remixes and deep cuts can be accessed through select DJ applications. The new feature can now be used with Virtual DJ, while Cross DJ and Denon DJ will be added in the coming months. The company also plans to integrate the new tool with more partners soon.
SoundCloud DJ costs $19.99 per month and the company claims that the service offers the largest catalogue of any offline plan at a lower price than its competitors.
“With SoundCloud DJ, you can save unlimited tracks locally in select DJ apps so you’re ready to spin wherever inspiration strikes,” a SoundCloud blog post reads(link is external).
“SoundCloud’s mission is to build a DJ toolkit for the next generation. As DJs are one of the largest and most foundational communities on SoundCloud, we’re dedicated to providing you with the resources and tools you need to create, share and keep levelling up your craft.”
SoundCloud announced the first DJ integration at the Amsterdam Dance Event festival back in October 2018. Earlier this year, the company launched an in-app track data feature that users can identify music with by key and tempo, which is available via Virtual DJ and Algoriddim. It also plans to introduce curated playlists to help DJs kick-start their sets.
Last year, the platform launched SoundCloud Go+, a cheaper $9.99 per-month plan, which was mainly aimed at students. Unlike SoundCloud DJ, the student-centric service is available on a broader range of DJ apps. SoundCloud’s large catalogue of music could make it an appealing option for DJs on a costs-saving budget.
