The Resolvers, South Florida’s premier big band reggae sensation, are back with their latest single, “They Don’t Know.” Known for their conscious roots in reggae, The Resolvers aim the pressing issues of inflation, hatred, and division currently plaguing America. This new release drops alongside an impactful music video, promising to resonate deeply with fans and new listeners alike.
The Resolvers have had an exciting start to the year, highlighted by their vibrant performance on the Sugarshack Pop-Up Stage at Reggae Rise Up Florida in St. Petersburg. This performance, which included four brand new, unreleased songs, is now streaming on YouTube, capturing the band’s dynamic energy and exceptional musicality.
“They Don’t Know” features Resolvers frontman Ojay Smith on lead vocals, delivering a thought-provoking and conscious reggae plea for help during difficult times. The lyrics poignantly address the struggles of people living paycheck to paycheck while politicians exacerbate societal issues with reckless policies and attitudes. Smith’s smooth vocals and cool confidence shine through as he reassures that despite running out of patience, there is hope as “the mice will take over the laboratory.”
The track is a testament to The Resolvers’ signature reggae-soul sound, enriched by a powerful three-piece horn section, intricate guitar lines, and steady percussion. This positive reggae anthem is layered with meaningful lyrics and a compelling musical arrangement, making it both a message of resistance and a call for unity.
In producing “They Don’t Know,” The Resolvers collaborated with Chance Rajkowski of Second Mile Media to create a compelling music video. Shot on location in Hollywood, FL, and directed by trumpet player David Burgos, the video perfectly complements the song’s message. The track was mixed by Dean Fishback of 7 Hills Studios and mastered by Lion and Fox Studios, ensuring a deep, authentic reggae sound.
