With “Get Up,” Austrian musician Wolfgang Egger’s electro, experimental project EGGER moves the 80s synthwave aesthetic away from nostalgia and into a more immediate, physical space. Released as the project’s fourth single, the 130 BPM track combines analogue synths, pulsing sequences and experimental electronics around a repeated call to “get up” and move.
The track reflects Egger’s interest in using electronic music to explore perception, technology and human behaviour. Its mantra-like vocal phrases, including “get up, get up, move in desire” and “get up, shout to the top,” give the song a direct sense of movement while the production maintains the stripped-back approach that has shaped EGGER’s work.
Rather than recreating the past, “Get Up” places familiar 80s sounds within an analogue, retro-futuristic setting. Mechanical sequences and shifting layers create a sense of motion, while the imperfections of analogue production sit alongside the more rigid qualities of modern electronic music.
