Panamanian-born songwriter and producer Erick Oscar brings a message of peace, unity and cultural understanding to his bilingual album One Rhythm, One World. Built around the belief that people have more in common than their differences sometimes suggest, the project encourages listeners to look beyond division, embrace different backgrounds and take the time to understand one another. With English-led verses and Spanish hooks, the album uses two languages to reinforce a message that reaches beyond borders.
The inspiration comes from Erick’s concern about the conflicts and divisions that continue to affect communities around the world. With some countries still experiencing war and hatred present within many societies, he hopes to use music to encourage a more loving world. For him, One Rhythm, One World is a reminder that meaningful connections begin when people become willing to listen to each other’s stories rather than putting their own views and agendas first. It is a call to recognise shared experiences while appreciating the differences that make each culture distinct.
Music has been part of Erick’s life since childhood. His father was a singer who introduced him to love songs and ballads, shaping an early appreciation for melody and emotional songwriting. He has played acoustic guitar with his church worship band for more than 35 years and has written over 1,200 songs during that time. The guitar remains an important part of his creative life, serving as a way to process his experiences and work through the emotions of everyday life.

Born in Panamá, Erick has lived in the United States for 34 years and became an American citizen decades ago. His work has also taken him to postings across nearly every country in Latin America, giving him exposure to different cultures and musical traditions. These experiences are reflected in a catalogue that moves between country, pop, ballads, salsa, merengue, bachata, flamenco, vallenato, reggaeton and mariachi. He writes and sings in both English and Spanish, with country music holding a particular place in his heart for its raw, deep and honest qualities.
Although Erick has spent decades writing songs and performing on acoustic guitar, he recently began exploring music production software. Learning to work with styles, tempos, vocals, instruments and arrangements has allowed him to bring several albums to life. He describes himself as an amateur producer who enjoys the process of shaping a song and finding the right musical setting for its message. Whatever genre he explores, the lyric remains central to his approach.
For Erick, music has a unique ability to reach people emotionally, touching the soul in ways that few other things can. With One Rhythm, One World, he brings that belief into a project centred on empathy, shared humanity and the value of listening. Its bilingual approach reflects the cultural experiences that have shaped his life, while its message invites listeners to recognise how much they can learn from one another.
